Ergonomic Evaluations

Michiana Physical Medicine’s PTA performs ergonomic evaluations for the Michiana area. With acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries on the rise, it is important to identify risk factors at the job site that may contribute to injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, golfer’s or tennis elbow, lower back pain and others. At times simple modifications can be suggested to diminish the incidence of these injuries. Our goal is the improve productivity while decreasing the risk of injury.

Post Offer Employment Testing

UltrasoundMichiana Physical Medicine offers Post Offer Examinations which studies have shown can reduce work related injury and illness. There are generally 3 steps to develop a program for your company.

  • An ergonomic evaluation can be performed to determine the demands of a job position.
  • An evaluation is developed to reflect those demands.
  • The applicant is evaluated to determine the capability of the applicant of performing the physical requirements of the job. The applicant completes a physical capacity test by the PTA which will include lifting, push/pull abilities, endurance, etc.. Dr. Szynal then performs a physical examination and renders an opinion as to whether the applicant is “qualified” or “not qualified” to perform the job in question.
